Your stay at Hisega Lodge starts with a welcome and a tour of the facility. The main floor of our building houses the common areas, with a large dining room, a lovely windowed library and a gracious great room.

The dining room facilities include a microwave and refrigerator for guest use. We also provide a small business center with computer, printer, copier and fax. Guests are welcome to glasses and dishes in the dining and great rooms. The lodge kitchen is off-limits, but who wants to cook when they are on vacation?

The lodge was built in 1909 with large rooms on the upper floor that were shared by family and friends. Later private baths were added to each room and lodge became an inn that provides comfort and relaxation to modern travelers.

Our rooms are cozy, clean and comfortable with wood floors and simple furnishings. Our windows open and we have screen doors in case you would like to nap with the door open. The sound of the creek will lull you to sleep and the cool night air will relax and refresh you.

The largest room is the Lost Cabin Room, with two queen beds. Another option for up to four guests is to book adjoining rooms Helen and Ada. Finally, the Crouch Line Room sleeps up to four people on two full-size beds. The remaining rooms sleep up to two guests each.

We do not need air conditioning in this high-elevation canyon next to the creek, but we do have a fan in every room. The serenity of the lodge, the music of the creek and the cool nights will enchant and refresh you.

Our prices start at $99 per night and include a gourmet breakfast. Click on the Check Availability button to see a snapshot of each room that is open on the nights of your scheduled visit. Once you decide on your dates and your room, you will be prompted for personal info and a credit card number. We process a 25% deposit when you book your room. Your deposit is refundable, minus a $10 cancellation fee, up to seven days prior to your arrival. Carol will provide deposit, cancellation and refund information for special events.

All rooms have private baths, private entrances and free secure wi-fi. All rooms are non-smoking.

All rooms have private baths, private entrances, and free secure wi-fi throughout the building and porches. The Trout Room, Helen and the Lost Cabin Room have television.

All rooms are smoke-free. We use nice thick towels and we feature locally made soap from the Black Hills Soap Co.

History and comfort

Our rooms are named for an earlier time and reflect the history of the lodge.

Room 1 is the Trout Room, in a tradition started by previous owners that honors the best view of the creek, a lovely breeze at night, a comfy king bed and tv.

Rooms 2 through 7 are named for the ladies whose initials formed the name Hisega - Helen, Ida, Sade, Ethel, Grace and Ada. Rooms 1 through 7 and room 9 are all on the upper level, with direct access to the deep wraparound porch.

Room 8, on the street level, is our largest room, with two queen beds and lots of windows. It is called the Lost Cabin Room and also features a stair-free stay for those with limited mobility.

Room 9 is called the Crouch Line Room. This two-room, one-bath suite sits at the top of the house. Each of the two rooms has one full-size bed. The Crouch Line railroad once connected Rapid City to Mystic, following the creek through the hills in a series of crazy twists and turns. Hisega was one of the stops on the Crouch Line, a perfect place to stop and fish, picnic, hike, or simply enjoy the cool canyon air.
